Please give us an insight into your Grammer story so far
After completing my Master's degree in Management in Madrid, I immediately got the chance of a permanent position at GRAMMER. Since I started in July 2017, I have gained a lot of experience in various areas of purchasing: Starting as a project buyer for our Division Commercial Vehicles, I switched to strategic series purchasing at Commodity Plastics in July 2018 and from there to strategic series purchasing in the Consoles & Armrests Division.
Please give us a brief insight into your current daily routine
My main task is to manage the series business for our Division Consoles & Armrests together with my colleagues. This means, for example, price and cost reductions to be negotiated and implemented with the suppliers. Equally important is the supplier's ability to ensure a well-functioning supply chain in terms of Supplier Management. Close coordination with our plants plays an important role in ensuring that suppliers perform flawlessly in terms of quality and logistics. In addition, regular coordination with our other specialist departments (Research & Development, Sales, etc.) is part of our day-to-day business. Since our focus is on the customer, we also always need to know what our customers' goals are with regard to products and their localization. We need to be there where our customers are, being visible means to be successful.
What fascinates you about your job?
On the one hand, I've always wanted to work for an industrial company, because at the end of the day it's personally very important to me to see what you're working on and for. We produce outstanding products - to see them completely manufactured and to know that a small contribution has been made to this by me, motivates me a lot for my daily work. On the other hand, the work in purchasing itself is incredibly alternating and demanding. It takes a certain affinity for numbers as well as empathy and tact to achieve the best result for GRAMMER from our suppliers. No supplier is like any other and hardly any initial situation resembles any other. The exchange with experienced colleagues also significantly contributes to my own professional competence.
What do you value about Grammer as an employer?
For me personally, GRAMMER is not just my employer: My father has been working for GRAMMER for over 30 years. He passed on the GRAMMER DNA to me, even though I've only been with GRAMMER for two years. This naturally leads to my very high level of identification and loyalty to GRAMMER. I really appreciate being able to work for the biggest and most important company in my home region and still move in an international environment. My positive overall picture of GRAMMER is complemented by the particularly collegial cooperation and the almost family atmosphere within the Division Consoles & Armrests.
