• Clear commitment to the Amberg region and the innovation location Germany
Amberg, March 1, 2018 – The new Grammer technology center and headquarter are being built in Ursensollen, just a few kilometers from the Company’s present headquarter in Amberg, for completion by the end of 2019. Construction work officially commenced on March 1, 2018. With office space of more than 10,000 square meters, the innovative new building will offer ideal working conditions for around 700 employees. With its new site in Ursensollen, Grammer is demonstrating its clear commitment to its roots in the Amberg region as well as the innovative German economy.
Grammer is budgeting a total of around EUR 40 million in two phases for the largest construction project in its history. The necessary building permits have been granted for the first phase of construction, while preliminary inquiries have already been lodged for the second phase.
With its new technology center, Grammer is creating the basis for reinforcing its innovation leadership and enhancing its appeal as a forward-looking employer in the automotive and commercial vehicles industry. At the same time, locating development activities and the Group headquarter at the same site will provide the physical basis for allowing the various departments to work together to optimum effect, for unleashing synergistic effects and for improving the efficiency of the development processes.
Following a comprehensive selection process, Grammer AG chose the plans drawn up for the site in Ursensollen. The new complex in Ursensollen will offer Grammer and particularly its employees an optimum blend of a convenient location, superb infrastructure and flexible scope for further construction and expansion. With an area of around 40,000 square meters, the land will provide space for the Grammer technology center and the Group headquarter as well as a design and ergonomics laboratory and a staff restaurant. Grammer’s uppermost goal is to create an attractive, healthy and modern working environment in which employees are able to work and communicate creatively and efficiently. Numerous outdoor and recreation areas will be available for staff during their breaks. Conference rooms and various communications hubs are available for meetings and conversations.
Grammer has structured the entire construction project in accordance with the principles of sustainability. Thus, the new buildings are to be constructed with sparing use of resources and predominantly from locally sourced materials. Thermically active steel-reinforced concrete ceilings ensure very efficient climate control within the buildings. Continuous interior air measurements will ensure an optimum climate throughout the entire building complex. In addition, LED lighting will lower energy consumption, while green roofs will reduce heat reflection in the summer and simultaneously bind particulate matter. There are also plans to install charging stations for electric vehicles, rain water storage tanks and other facilities.
“Our new state-of-the-art technology center reflects our Company’s innovativeness. We are pleased to have found in Ursensollen the ideal location for the GRAMMER Group’s new headquarter. In this way, we are showing our strong commitment to the Amberg region as well as Germany. With our new complex, we are creating a modern working environment for our employees with optimum conditions for productive, creative and ergonomic activities. As well as this, we will be able to improve the efficiency and synergistic effects of our processes by pooling our R&D activities,” says Hartmut Müller, CEO of Grammer AG.
