Amberg, September 21, 2018 – At Innotrans 2018, the leading international trade fair for transport technology, which takes place this year from September 18 to 21 in Berlin, Grammer Railway Interior GmbH is presenting a series of innovations in the field of railway seats.
Use of light as a comfort and design element
This year, light will be one of the highlights at Grammer’s stand, where the IC3000 IC passenger seat will be displayed to show the possibilities for integrating light in seat design. Light can be used in many different ways for passenger seats, such as to provide added comfort. For example, it is possible to integrate reading lights, table illumination, aisle lighting or an illuminated seat reservation display in the seat. Used as a design element, light is also ideal for enhancing the interior of the train carriage and giving it an individual touch. Ambient light, illuminated logos in the back of the seat or light piping in the armrest are just a few examples of customized light integration.
In addition to various Grammer light designs, further comfort features for railway seats will also be on display: thus, the version of the ICE3000 seat model on display at Innotrans is also fitted with particularly comfortable and soft seat cushions, extra-wide armrests, a reading light and a swivel adapter for rotating the seat in the direction of travel.
As well as this, visitors to Grammer’s stand will be able to view the seats that will be available in the near future via a new and innovative type of product visualization.
Grammer online configurator offering customized modular solutions for seat design
At the same time, Grammer will be presenting “hands-on modularity” at Innotrans. The R3000 seat platform for regional trains features numerous possibilities for customized seat design and configuration. Using the new Grammer online configurator, customers are able to assemble their own rail seats from a wide variety of modular components.
“In addition to meeting the latest UK and European safety standards, the Grammer R3000 seat platform offers wide scope for customization in terms of the design of the head area, the type of backrest and the large number of possible extras. The R3000 is a highly functional and extremely variable all-round system,” says Ralf Hoppe, press officer for GRAMMER AG.
Full-line supplier of driver and passenger seats
Grammer is a full-line supplier of driver and passenger seats in the rail segment, offering seats for all types of trains such as high distance and premium, regional and intercity and urban transit. Alongside passenger seats, the MSG 90.6 locomotive driver seat will also be on display at Innotrans. The seat offers maximum comfort, functionality, ergonomics and safety. The pneumatic suspension reduces vibrations, protects the spine and provides a pleasant sitting sensation. The operating elements fitted to the seat reflect Grammer’s “Designed for use” principle: The controls communicate their function through their design and are placed in a way that prevents confusion and is user-friendly thanks to their unique design. With its variable side support, the seat offers even more scope for individual adjustment to the driver’s body. While the driver is seated, he or she is able to alter his or her position and the spin can assume different positions in contact with the seat. The MSG 90.6 series seats have been awarded the “Proven ergonomics” certificate. Working in collaboration with Ergonomie-Institut München (EIM), Landesgewerbeanstalt Nürnberg (LGA) has assigned them “ergonomics approved” status.
