History
Grammer is committed to responsible business practices geared to increasing the company’s value. It therefore thoroughly approves of the German Corporate Governance Code. This Code was drawn up by an independent commission at the initiative of the German federal government and entered into force in 2002.
1880
Willibald Grammer establishes a saddlery with the same name.
1954
Georg Grammer, the grandson of Willibald Grammer, founds the "Company for the Fabrication of Seat Cushions".
1964
The first suspended driver seats go into production.
1970
The first export orders were received from European countries and the United States.
1976
GRAMMER develops an innovative technology for the manufacture of cushions. It is called the foam-in-place technology.
1980
First office chair products are manufactured.
1982
Grammer entries into the truck seat market.
1985
Entry in the market for train passenger seats.
1989
The GRAMMER AG was established.
1990
Start of the production of intercity express train passenger seats.
1992
The back foaming technology developed further for coating technology.
1996
GRAMMER is listed on the stock market.
2000
Concentration on the core business, which includes the sale of the Office Chair Corporation.
2004
Grammer celebrates its 50th anniversary.
2005
Second IPO and the opening of two new production sites in China.
